Vol 4 No 16 - Easter Thinking

Quick question time:  When was the last time you thought about the fact that it has been less than two weeks since we observed Easter Sunday?

While spending some time in meditation and prayer recently, one of the authors I was reading made a very astute observation: "The work of Jesus Christ in our lives is to restore [the] divine image, which has become so distorted that it can no longer be recognized."  He goes on to argue that the divine image in which we were made has become distorted because we try so earnestly to cram other images into our souls.

The reason I ask about when was the last time you thought of Easter Sunday is that it is so very easy to allow our lives to be crammed so full of 'stuff', especially when many are trying to spend this week getting back into 'routine' after spring break.  We celebrate Easter precisely because without the reminder of the reconciliation work of Christ's life, death, and resurrection, we can easily allow our lives to be crammed full of 'junk' that, bit by bit, draws us away from our Creater.

Think about Easter.  Not just once a year.  TODAY.  Tomorrow.  And every day after that.  For it is only by basking in the glory of Easter that we can stay rooted to who and whose we are.

See You Soon!

Vol 4 No 15 - Triduum

No need to make this complicated or long...Today, Maundy Thursday, marks the beginning of the highest holy days of the year for us.  Participating in the remembrance of the Last Supper this evening, walking Christ's journey tomorrow evening through the ministry of the cantata, and the celebration of Christ's resurrection on Easter Sunday morning...These are defining events without which we would not have any hope, nor salvation.  Hearing and joining in these observances reminds us once again of the true miracle of the resurrection, and where our faith (individual and corporate) must be in our priority list (hint: #1).
